Life-Saving Avalanche Airbag of the Day: Pro-snowboarder Meesh Hytner, caught in a class-3 avalanche near Montezuma, Colorado, was saved by her Backcountry Access Float 30 — an emergency airbag for snowboarders that allowed her to slide down moving snow and emerge unharmed.

“I felt like I was riding a mattress down the stairs,” Hytner later said. “This thing saved my life.”
